Use your talents for communication to help bring art to life.

Treehouse NDSM is a breeding ground (broedplaats) located in the former NDSM shipyard at the shores of the IJ River in Amsterdam-North. Treehouse NDSM supports multi-disciplinary artists in bringing their projects to life by offering 100 individual and affordable studios for rent, as well as access to exhibition spaces and the opportunity of participating in a vibrant and collaborative artistic community. It is an artistic incubator where artists and audiences use their imagination to create their vision of the world. The complex is a small village, built over two floors from recycled sea containers and building sheds. Renting out the studios is the main source of income for Treehouse's operations.

What will you do?

Within a small team,

  • You are responsible for Treehouse's marketing, communication strategies and its implementation and PR.
  • You determine the right tone of voice and make sure our messages are consistent through all channels
  • You dare to think outside the box, and you can translate Treehouse perfectly into content (images and text)
  • You are not afraid to take the lead
  • You can manage interns.

The Communication Manager

  • ensures that the studios and other rentable spaces are brought to the attention of artists and potential;
  • cultural clients in the best possible way;
  • is committed to the branding of Treehouse NDSM as a thriving and energetic creative hub;
  • is in charge of the promotion of our artistic program and the Creative School;
  • takes care of all online activities (e.g. intranet, website, social media, e-newsletters and mailings) and create poster/flyers;
  • supports the internal communication within Treehouse community.

Your profile

  • You are passionate about art;
  • You can easily approach people;
  • You have a fluent pen and a perfect command of the English and Dutch language;
  • You are flexible, creative and solution-oriented;
  • You have experience in working with a CMS (web content management and web editing), email marketing tools such as MailChimp; and setting up advertising campaigns on Facebook, Google and  Instagram.
  • You have skills with Adobe Suite, primarily Photoshop and InDesign
  • You have basic video editing skills;
  • You feel comfortable in taking pictures and videos of our activities for documentation and promotion
